Patient terms
Last updated:
1. Parties and scope
These terms govern your use of the Treat platform, operated by Treat Health Oy (business id 3618620-6, Kampinkuja 2, 00100 Helsinki, Finland). By registering and using the platform you accept these terms.
Treat Health Oy operates the platform that connects you with independent, licensed Finnish physicians. The physician who accepts your case — not Treat Health Oy — provides the medical service and is responsible for its quality and legality under healthcare and consumer protection law. The physician’s identity is shown to you in the case view.
2. The service and its limits
You describe a symptom or question, and a licensed Finnish physician reviews and answers asynchronously. Physicians can issue prescriptions and short sick-leave certificates where Finnish law and Finnish Supervisory Agency guidance permit for remote services.
Remote care cannot replace every in-person examination. Physicians cannot examine you physically, order imaging, or certify long sick leave, and will direct you to in-person care when it is indicated. Seek in-person care if your symptoms are new and severe or get worse.
Treat is not suitable for emergencies. If your situation is urgent or life-threatening, call 112.
3. Who can use Treat
Adults (18+) physically present in Finland who can complete Finnish strong electronic identification. Your account is personal and non-transferable, and you are responsible for activity on it and for keeping your information accurate. Report any unauthorised use immediately.
You may not use the platform for unlawful purposes, to harass or harm others, or to copy, distribute, or resell platform content. Treat Health Oy may suspend or close accounts for justified reason, including suspected breach of these terms.
4. Fees, payment, and cancellation
Either you or your employer pays per case at the price displayed before you submit. No subscription, no auto-renew. Where your employer covers the service, your employer is invoiced and you pay nothing.
Submitting a case is a binding order.
Because this is a healthcare service, the distance-selling right of withdrawal under consumer law does not apply to the medical consultation. You therefore have no 14-day statutory cooling-off period.
You can cancel a case at any time before a physician opens it, and you are then not charged. Once a physician has opened your case the consultation has begun, and the price displayed is charged in full. This cancellation is granted by these terms; it is not a statutory right of withdrawal.
5. Clinical responsibility and records
The physician is the responsible clinician for your case, maintains the patient records required by law, and is the data controller for them. Treatment injuries are handled under the Finnish Patient Insurance Act. Complaints about the medical service should be addressed to the physician; the platform shows the contact route.
Personal data is processed as described in our privacy policy.
6. Intellectual property and your content
The platform and its content belong to Treat Health Oy and its licensors. You get a limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use the platform under these terms; no other rights transfer.
The health data, documents, and images you submit remain yours. Treat Health Oy does not use your clinical content for its own purposes. Treat Health Oy may record transaction metadata (the parties, time, and duration of a consultation) for quality control, billing, and statistics.
7. Platform liability
The platform is provided as is, without warranty of uninterrupted availability. To the extent permitted by mandatory law, Treat Health Oy is not liable for damage caused by technical failures, service interruptions, or circumstances beyond its reasonable control (force majeure).
Treat Health Oy’s liability towards you is limited to proven direct damage, up to a maximum of 1,000 euros per damage event, unless mandatory law provides otherwise or the damage was caused intentionally or by gross negligence. Treat Health Oy does not assume the physician’s liability for the medical service in any form.
8. Term and termination
The agreement starts when you accept these terms and remains in force while you use the platform. You may terminate at any time by closing your account, after which your account data is deleted to the extent the law permits. Treat Health Oy may discontinue the platform or any feature, and will endeavour to notify you of material changes.
9. Changes and assignment
Treat Health Oy may amend these terms by notifying registered users or publishing the change on the platform; continued use after the change means acceptance. Treat Health Oy may assign this agreement in connection with a business transfer; you may not assign it.
10. Governing law and disputes
Finnish law applies. Disputes are resolved in the Helsinki District Court; as a consumer you may always sue in the district court of your home municipality. You may also refer a dispute to the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi) after contacting the Consumer Advisory Services (kkv.fi/kuluttajaneuvonta), or use the EU online dispute resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr).
